vs. Interpretation: An Anthology on Improvisation (includes sound module + USB) +

vs. Interpretation is a compendium of essays edited by David Rothenberg and the first publication by the Agosto Foundation. Inspired by the vs. Interpretation festival in July 2014 and designed by Pixl-e Studios Publishing, the book includes drawings by Morgan O'Hara and a compilation on USB of improvised music by composers and artists from the Czech Republic and abroad.

An inspiring read, not only for scholars and artists but for anyone interested in improvisation, vs. Interpretation is a tool for living in and interpreting the world around us.

This special edition of 100 books includes a sound module which transforms this book into a performance device perfect for adventurous improvisers.

Sound module description: The sound module has been designed especially for this limited-edition run of vs. Interpretation and is embedded in the front cover of the book.  A subtle sound is activated and deactivated by movement and light. There are two kind of sounds produced:

    1) a simple sinus with range of little bit more than one octave, starting approximately at C5 and ending on D6.

    2) a clicking sound running on frequencies 0.7 Hz - 70Hz.

Authors and interviewees contributing to this publication:

Ximena Alarcón, Charlie Bramley, Clio E. Bugel, Dawn of Midi, Michael Francis Duch and Bjørnar Habbestad, Jeffrey Goldberg, Peter Goodwin Heltzel, George Lewis, Lukas Ligeti, Lisa Cay Miller, Phill Niblock, Morgan O’Hara, Pauline Oliveros, Ivan Palacký, Dimitris Papageorgiou, Cynthia Plachá, Amandine Pras, Lucie Vítková, Rob Wallace

The accompanying USB features original music compositions by the following artists:

Michael Duch and Bjørnar Habbestad, David Rothenberg, Lucie Vítková, Peter Graham and Morgan O’Hara, Ximena Alarcón, Iva Bittová, Dimitris Papageorgiou, Roger Kleier, Annie Gosfield, Prague Improvisation Orchestra, Jeffrey Goldberg, Jaromír Typlt and Michal Rataj, Lukas Ligeti

The book is published in two variations. The Blue Edition includes a sound module in a limited edition of 100 copies, while the Yellow Edition is not a limited edition and does not include the sound module.
